Tim Barker
Principal Surveyor
Tim has worked in the marine industry for over forty years and has a wealth of experience in both powered and sailing vessels. This experience has been not only been in building, repairing and maintaining boats but also in brokerage and boat sales. He started surveying in 2005 and became a full time surveyor in 2008 having spent three years training achieved a Diploma with distinction in Practical & Small Craft Surveying at the International Boat Training Centre in Lowestoft. Since then he has completed thousands of surveys in all types and sizes of vessels from an Atlantic rowing boat to a 100′ steel suction dredger. He is also a long time boat owner having owned a number of different sailing yachts and powerboats, and has cruised these extensively through Europe and Caribbean.
Tim is currently an accredited member Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA) and have for two years been on the associations committee and is the current chairman. In addition to this he is a member of the Royal Institute of Naval architects (RINA) and a founder member of the Marine Survey Associates (MSA) previously known as British Marine Surveyors Europe group (BMSE).
